UPAP has numerous student leadership opportunities. The UPAP student society is a group of PA students who assemble on a regular basis to discuss issues of common interest that often deal with health care, the PA profession, the PA student classroom, the University of Utah campus, and community outreach activities.

UPAP supports a roster of elected student leaders and maintains a registered student society with the Student Academy of the American Academy of PAs (SAAAPA and AAPA). UPAP student society votes on bylaws each year and also registers with the Associated Students of the University of Utah (ASUU).

UPAP has several leadership opportunities including the Maliheh student run clinic leaders on the SLC campus and Doctors Volunteer Clinic (DVC) student leaders on the St. George campus.

UPAP supports PASSED (Physician Assistant Students Supporting Engagement and Difference). PASSED is a student group that is dedicated to promoting cultural and community awareness, civic involvement, social accountability and the reduction of disparity in healthcare as we strive to refine our practice of medicine, professionalism and the skills necessary to become culturally competent, patient centered health care providers. In doing so we mentor, promote the PA profession, teach sciences, anatomy, and suturing. As for the outreach activities, we team up with local and school organizations to participate in health care fairs providing information about the PA profession and UPAP, screening tests to individuals and families without insurance. PASSED needs your help to fulfill our goal in promoting awareness about the PA profession among all communities regardless of social, economic, and/or cultural difference through these outreach programs and activities.
