The MD-PhD Program Admissions Committee is composed of faculty and current students. The committee evaluates several criteria including (but not limited to) academic excellence, scientific background, research accomplishments, career motivation as a physician-scientist, leadership, and community service.
The MD Program Admissions Committee will also evaluate the candidate’s merit specifically for the MD portion of the program. Evaluators explore the applicant's motivation for seeking a medical degree, awareness and understanding of the medical profession, leadership, problem solving skills, understanding of medical ethics, and interpersonal skills.
Selected candidates will be invited to participate in an interview weekend. The interviews start on a Thursday and end on a Saturday. Candidates pre-select faculty they would like to meet with and interview with them on Thursday. On Friday, candidates interview with the MD Admissions Committee. There are a variety of social events (e.g., dinners, recreational activities) throughout the weekend, in addition to several multiple mini-interviews with members of the MD-PhD Admissions Committee and faculty.
