Whereas traditional noninvasive vascular imaging assesses the lumen of a vessel, vwMRI allows for visualization of the vessel wall itself. This transformational technique promises to improve our assessment of cerebrovascular disorders. Our group uses vwMRI to perform clinical and preclinical assessments of intracranial atherosclerosis (ICAD), cerebral aneurysms, and other vascular diseases.
