The University of Utah School of Medicine has cancelled the in-person Commencement Ceremony on May 15, 2020 due to the Utah System of Higher Education's decision to either postpone or cancel Utah's colleges and universities commencement ceremonies. The School of Medicine will host a virtual Commencement Ceremony on May 15, 2020 at 10:00 AM MST over Zoom. Please check back for additional updates.

Our virtual ceremony will include the traditional program that was scheduled to take place at Kingsbury Hall, including our original speakers. It will take place live via Zoom and will be broadcast via YouTube. All those who wish to view the ceremony, including our graduates, will stream via the YouTube link provided.
The ceremony will not take place on campus. The speakers participating in the program, as well as the Platform Party, will join in a Zoom meeting from their homes. This meeting will be live-streamed to YouTube where all participants will be able to view the ceremony as it is happening. The School of Medicine Virtual Commencement Ceremony will take place at the original date and time of Friday May 15, 2020 at 10:00 AM MST.
Student leaders were consulted about the proposed changes for the virtual Commencement ceremony. We want to ensure graduating students have an opportunity to celebrate their achievements, and we are committed to making this day as memorable as possible.
Graduates are not required to wear regalia as they will not be visible during the ceremony. All speakers and members of the Platform Party who will be in the Zoom meeting will be in full regalia.

There is no limit to the number of family members who can view the virtual ceremony.
The virtual ceremony will be available for you and your family to watch live at 10:00 AM MST on Friday May 15, 2020.
Past ceremonies are available to view on the School of Medicine website. We will post the virtual ceremony on the same page for you to view at a later date.
Diplomas will be mailed directly to graduating students. More details will be shared directly with the graduates from the Registrar’s Office.
No, participation in the virtual ceremony will be optional.
Though the University of Utah Main Campus has rescheduled their Commencement Ceremony for December of 2020, the School of Medicine will not be holding an in-person ceremony at a later date. The virtual ceremony will take the place of any in-person ceremony.
