Our undergraduate opportunities are created with the goal of increasing medical education opportunities in rural and underserved areas of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. This is achieved by expanding interest and awareness of rural health, maintaining and growing quality educational experiences, and developing and enhancing community partnerships with stakeholders. The RUUTE & Regional Affairs program has expanded pipeline efforts to include opportunities for undergraduate students attending colleges/universities in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana.
Some of the offerings available to undergraduate students interested in the health sciences include the RUUTE Undergraduate Ambassador Program, Summer Undergraduate Research Program, and more offerings that are regularly added. Please explore our website for our current offerings or reach out to Kacey Madsen at Kacey.Madsen@hsc.utah.edu for more information.
The Rural & Underserved Utah Training Experience (RUUTE) program at the University of Utah provides educational outreach presentations by request. These sessions focus on RUUTE’s mission, health care in rural and underserved communities, and ways students can get involved in health science pathways.
We are pleased to present to a variety of audiences, including K-12 students, community groups, college organizations, and health-focused programs. Presentations are tailored to suit the age, background, and interests of the audience.
