It is my pleasure to welcome you to our website and to invite you to learn more about the Masters of Science in Cardiovascular Perfusion program. Here you will learn about our activities, our faculty and staff, and our plans for the future. We hope you will see our drive and determination to educate and train the best, most qualified perfusionists in the country.
Our program is unique in many ways. We are housed within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery here in the School of Medicine. This division is nationally and internationally recognized and is shaping the future of heart and lung surgery. Having our program housed here will allow our students to be trained and taught by multiple levels of medical faculty and staff both clinically and didactically.
Our students will also take classes from the world-renowned Physician Assistant (PA) Studies program in the Department of Family and Preventative Medicine. The PA program has been consistently ranked as a top 10 PA program in the country and we are thrilled to give our students the opportunity to learn from their distinguished faculty.
Because of the rich healthcare environment in Salt Lake City and the state of Utah, our CVP students have the opportunity to potentially attend many of their rotations in-state. Opportunities for clinical rotations in-state exist at the University of Utah Hospital, Primary Children’s Medical Center, Intermountain Medical Center, Salt Lake City Veterans Administration Hospital, and other surrounding Utah hospitals. The perfusionists at these medical centers are some of the best in the country and having these centers as training sites provides a vast amount of clinical opportunities and cases.
Thank you for your interest into our program! Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Warm regards,
Kirk R. Bingham, MS, CCP
