The Section of General Surgical Oncology is a section under the Division of General Surgery with an emphasis on the surgical care of cancer patients. Our group is composed of fellowship-trained surgeons who focus on breast, skin, soft tissue, and gastrointestinal (including esophageal, gastric, liver, bile duct, pancreas, small intestine, colon, and peritoneal-based) cancers. We take pride in delivering compassionate, multi-disciplinary, patient-centered, evidence-based treatment to all patients with any stage of cancer.

In line with the mission of Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and Department of Surgery at the University of Utah, the mission of the Section of General Surgical Oncology is to provide comprehensive, compassionate cancer care through innovation, education, and discovery. We aim for greater understanding of cancer biology with the goal of improving cancer diagnosis, optimizing cancer treatment, and promoting cancer prevention.
