Residency Application Update: Department of Anesthesiology Pilots CentralApp

The University of Utah's Department of Anesthesiology is excited to announce that we will be piloting CentralApp as part of our residency application process this year. This new platform is designed to be more cost-effective for applicants and more efficient for Program Directors, offering an alternative to the traditional ERAS system.

What You Need to Know

  • Dual Applications Required: This year, applicants must complete both CentralApp and ERAS applications, as not all anesthesiology programs are using CentralApp.
  • No Charge for CentralApp: There is no cost to use CentralApp for this application cycle, making it a financially friendly option for students.
  • Key Dates: While CentralApp is releasing applications to Program Directors on September 16th, this is simply for us to familiarize ourselves with the platform before the official review process begins. Your application will not be formally reviewed until Medical Student Performance Evaluations (MSPEs) are available.
  • Honor Code Compliance: The information you provide, including any signaling, should be accurate and submitted in good faith. Any violations of this honor code, such as providing incorrect information, will be identified and shared with Program Directors.

We believe CentralApp holds great potential to streamline the residency application process. However, as this is a pilot year, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these changes together.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please reach out to Katie Snow, Associate Director of Education.
