The University of Utah Orthopaedic Center recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of exceptional patient care, innovation, and teamwork. Among those recognized during the celebration was Dr. Jeff Swenson, a world-class anesthesiologist who has been instrumental in advancing regional anesthesia.
As shared by Dr. Charles Saltzman, LS Peery Presidential Endowed Professor, “Dr. Swenson has provided the safest, most patient-centered, and efficient anesthesia service in the country. He is a true innovator, pioneering regional anesthesia techniques that have transformed postoperative care, including testing block techniques on cadavers and himself.”
Dr. Swenson’s contributions include developing long-acting regional blocks and a non-narcotic postoperative pain regimen, enabling patients to undergo major surgeries with little to no pain afterward. His pioneering work has set a new standard for orthopedic anesthesia care, improving patient outcomes nationwide.
Congratulations to Dr. Swenson for his groundbreaking achievements, and to the U of U Orthopaedic Center for 20 years of excellence!
