This one or two-year fellowship is designed to engage the trainee in clinical and translational research in psoriasis utilizing the resources of the Utah Psoriasis Initiative (UPI). The UPI is a registry of over 1600 patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, started in 2002 to study the relationship of genotype and phenotype of psoriatic disease. Data derived from physical examination, questionnaires, genome-wide association studies, and the Utah Population Database can be accessed to design and conduct a research project. The fellow is responsible for enrolling and following patients into the UPI and PSOLAR, an industry sponsored registry of patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis. The directors will assist the fellow in developing their own research project that relates to the UPI or other ongoing projects.
Eligible applicants typically are medical students (with at least three years of medical school) or medical school graduates who are pre- or post-internship or residency.
