Fellowship Opportunities

Addiction Medicine

The Department of Psychiatry was accredited by the Addiction Medicine Foundation (TAMF) in 2016 to offer a one-year Addiction Medicine fellowship training program within the Division of Adult Psychiatry. This fellowship is under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth F. Howell, MD, MS, DLFAPA, DFASAM and is open to applicants who are board-eligible or board-certified in any primary specialty of the American Board of Medical Specialties. Fellows will train at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute, the University of Utah Hospital and Community Clinics, and local residential treatment centers.

Global Health

Hospice & Palliative Care

The obstetrics fellowship combines a half-time practice in a community health center system that delivers more than 1,400 babies a year. The rest of your time is spent working with the obstetrical house staff services at LDS, IMC, and University Hospitals. Our fellowship graduates have the skills and experience to apply for cesarean and operative deliveries in most hospital systems. They obtain extensive training in routine and high-risk pregnancies and deliveries.

Sports Medicine

The sports medicine fellow works with sports medicine physicians in three settings: the Madsen Health Center, the University of Utah Orthopedic Center, and the Center for Orthopedic Rehabilitation Excellence at Park City Ski Clinic. Our fellow, working directly with our faculty, experiences all types of athletes, sports injuries, and associated management modalities. Our fellow has extensive contact with the University of Utah athletic teams and the USA winter sports teams. In addition, our fellow serves in a teaching role within the family medicine residency.
