Weekly Didactic Conference

This conference is held every Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:00 PM and covers topics pertaining to acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, dialysis, transplant and hypertension.

Weekly Clinical Conference

Fellows present challenging clinical cases and journal club articles at this conference held every Wednesday from 4:00-5:00 PM. Topics cover glomerulonephritis, transplant, dialysis and acid-base and electrolyte disorders. An Images in Nephrology Quiz and Nephrology Jeopardy are hosted by faculty annually.

Weekly Research Conference

This conference is held every Wednesday from 5:00 – 6:00 PM. Visiting professors and division faculty present their ongoing research and discuss recent developments in their area of expertise. This is also Nephrology Grand Rounds are scheduled.

Weekly Renal Pathology Conference

This conference is held every Friday from 12:30 -1:30 PM led by the renal pathologist using a multi-headed microscope. All fellows and clinical faculty attend this conference and review all biopsies performed at the University and/or VA hospital as well as interesting cases from outside the University.

Board Review

Clinical faculty lead this 2-hour session every other month to prepare fellows for board review. These interactive sessions help prepare fellows for the board exams at the end of their fellowship.

Renal Physiology Primer

At the beginning of the fellowship, topics pertaining to renal physiology are covered in an hour long sessions every week. Fellows are responsible for reading assigned chapters from Clinical physiology of Acid-Base and Electrolyte Disorders by Burton David Rose and Theodore W. Post.
