COVID-19 PANDEMIC UPDATE
Dear Potential Fellowship Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the University of Utah sports medicine fellowship. We wanted to provide some information pertinent to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- It remains important to recognize and accept uncertainties, anticipate changes and approach changes with flexibility. We cannot predict the future with certainty.
- Overall, Utah has been less severely affected by the pandemic than many geographic regions. The Utah Department of Health has an excellent web site with detailed information about the burden of disease in the state: https://coronavirus.utah.gov/case-counts/
- It is not yet know if our interviews for the 2022-2023 cycle will be held in person or virtually. There are a number of variables to consider including; COVID case counts, vaccine rollout, national and local restrictions, and public health and University of Utah recommendations. While our preference would be to hold in person interviews, as this provides the best experience for applicants, we will be paying close attention to the situation and updating our website as more information becomes available.
- Unfortunately, the University of Utah is not permitting visiting residents to rotate at our institution because of the pandemic. We recognize that externships are a common part of resident’s evaluation of fellowship programs. Our team is available to speak with you by phone and answer all questions you might have.
Please return to this website for future updates and do not hesitate to contact us directly.
