Welcome to the Department of Psychiatry

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship

HMHI Building Exterior With Flags

Our ACGME-accredited fellowship is located in the beautiful foothills of the Salt Lake Valley, housed in our free-standing academic psychiatric hospital, Huntsman Mental Health Institute, and minutes away from nationally-recognized Primary Children’s Hospital and the University of Utah Health Hospital.

We have an established history of excellent clinical care, education, and research, with the future only looking brighter. In 2019 the Huntsman family provided a commitment of $150 million to the University of Utah establishing the Huntsman Mental Health Institute. The focus of these funds will be to provide financial support to the University of Utah Department of Psychiatry in becoming a national leader in research, clinical care, and community outreach.

We have an established history of excellent clinical care, education, and research, with the future only looking brighter. As the only Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship in Utah, we emphasize training and collaboration across multiple levels of care in different modalities and systems to serve all patients from all backgrounds. We value increasing access to care through Mental Health Integration and school-based mental health clinics.  Despite program growth and expansion to 5 categorical spots and 1 Idaho Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Track position each year, we maintain our commitment to learner-centered training with flexible, individualized experiences and support with a “small program feel” that allow trainees to thrive in both their professional and personal lives.
