David West

My name is David West, and I am excited to join the Department of Dermatology as an autoimmune research fellow. I am currently between my 3rd and 4th years of medical school at the University of Utah. I grew up in Salt Lake but have also lived in Argentina and Honduras. My interests include autoimmune and complex medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and improving access to dermatologic care for underserved communities. Outside of medicine, I enjoy gardening, hiking, running, and spending time with my wife and our dog.

Sarah Hermak

Sarah Hermak joins the University of Utah from Virgina as this year's Autoimmune Research Fellow. She recently completed her preliminary Internal Medicine year at Eastern Virginia Medical School and was previously a Wound Healing and Regenerative Medicine Research Fellow at the University of Miami. She looks forward to building a strong foundation in autoimmune and inflammatory skin disease while working alongside the exceptional faculty and patients at the U as she pursues a career in academic dermatology. Outside of medicine, she enjoys playing tennis, hiking, exploring new countries and cultures, and spending time outdoors with her dog, Cece.
