Exploring South Korea: Society, Development and Health Learning Abroad

 

The Exploring South Korea: Society, Health and Development Learning Abroad Program is a new 3-week summer learning abroad program in Incheon (Songdo), South Korea. The program is based at the University of Utah Asia Campus one of the founding institutions of the Incheon Global Campus in Incheon (Songdo), South Korea. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new cultural setting, allowing them to think, feel and experience the traditional and modern society of South Korea with its unique culture of food, lifestyle, arts, music, rapid development and its implications on society, environment and health. Students will be able to observe, interact and work directly with community members and academicians from South Korea and U of U.

      The program is based at the University of Utah Asia Campus one of the founding institutions of the Incheon Global Campus in Incheon (Songdo), South Korea. Incheon Global Campus is termed the “best global education hub in Northeastern Asia” and is a national project established by the Korean government and Incheon Metropolitan City. Songdo is the "Smart City" in which the Incheon Global Campus resides. Songdo is a prime example of a new city that brings together the world's best technologies, building design and eco-friendly practices to create the ultimate lifestyle and work experience. Incheon, South Korea borders the capital of Seoul and has a population of 2.9 million. The Division of Public Health has run a Masters of Public Health at the University of Asia Campus since 2014.

    The Division of Public Health is currently building relations with local universities, community leaders and various health facilities to enhance collaborative efforts and support joint public health education and research. Partners include academic and community members in Incheon (Songdo) and Seoul.
