
Maribel Cedillo, DGIM Senior Manager for Research, receives Doctor of Medical Science
The Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) is proud to announce that Maribel Cedillo, DGIM Senior Manager for Research, received her Doctor of Medical Science from Northeastern University on April 26, 2025.

Dr. Cedillo’s thesis titled "Applying Cultural Dimensions to Adapting the National Diabetes Prevention Program for Hispanic Populations Residing in the United States," has been submitted to Translational Behavioral Medicine for publication. Her work embodies Northeastern’s hallmark of evidence-based practice, person-centered care, and lifelong learning, principles she lives daily in DGIM.
Throughout her doctoral journey, Maribel:
- Led DGIM projects full-time, advancing grant development and implementation research.
- Modeled the interprofessional collaboration our field requires, working with clinicians, data scientists, and community partners.
- Upheld the commitment to “advocate for prevention and health” ensuring culturally responsive programs reach more communities.
- Demonstrated the leadership our division values—guiding teams, mentoring staff, and shaping the future of population health research.
