Welcome Tim Hanley

The Department of Pathology is pleased to welcome Timothy Hanley, M.D., Ph.D. as a new faculty member. Dr. Hanley joins the department as an Instructor in the Clinical Pathology Division, Hematopathology section.
Dr. Hanley has been with the Department of Pathology as a Resident, Chief Resident, and Hematopathology Fellow. Prior to coming to Utah, he received a BA in Government from Harvard University. He earned a MD and PhD from Boston University School of Medicine.
Along with his clinical responsibilities in the Hematopathology section, Dr. Hanley will be working with Dr. Vicente Planelles on HIV research, specifically HIV-1 infection of macrophages and the regulation of intrinsic antiviral factors. He is also interested in viral-induced hematologic malignancies and immunodeficiency-associated lymphomas.
Dr. Hanley enjoys spending his free time biking, hiking, and camping with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoys cooking and traveling.
