The Department of Pathology welcomes Dr. Joseph Rudolf to the University of Utah. Dr. Rudolf joined the Department as a clinical assistant professor in June 2020. He is located at ARUP in the Clinical Pathology Division, where he is a Medical Director in the Automated Core Lab.
Dr. Rudolf comes to the University of Utah from the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota. At Minnesota, he served as the Director of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Informatics.
His interest in technology in medicine, and laboratory medicine in particular, developed while he was in school. Dr. Rudolf received his MD from the University of Washington in Seattle; he completed a residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he also completed a fellowship in Clinical Informatics.
Dr. Rudolf is very excited to join the faculty at ARUP; he had been looking for an opportunity to do so for the past ten years due to ARUP’s strong national reputation. He is also happy to be back in the West, as he enjoys hiking, mountain biking and skiing. He looks forward to spending time exploring Utah with his partner, Dr. Allison Carey, and their new puppy.
