Evan Raps, MD, joined the Department of Pathology faculty in July 2021.
Dr. Raps trained with the department as a resident and a fellow and now holds the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) in the Anatomic Pathology Division.
While Dr. Raps is a New York native, he has been in the Mountain West throughout his academic career; he earned a BS at the University of Nevada (Reno) and an MD from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas. He came to the University of Utah as a resident in 2006 and became Chief Resident before completing a fellowship in cytopathology.
Dr. Raps currently focuses on cytology, head & neck pathology, and autopsy; he is also intensely interested in digital pathology. He has enjoyed working with the faculty and staff in the Department of Pathology. He is looking forward to engaging with and passing knowledge along to trainees.
Dr. Raps’ wife works at the University of Utah in Emergency Medicine, and they have two children. He also enjoys skiing and won the 2011-12 International Freeskiing Coach of the Year award from the US Ski & Snowboard Association.
