Welcome Dr. Erica Swenson

Erica Swenson, DO is a recent addition to the Department of Pathology faculty. She serves as the Associate Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine in the Clinical Pathology Division and specializes in transfusion medicine and hematopathology.

Dr. Swenson is originally from Washington state and attended medical school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. She then completed an AP/CP residency at Oregon Health & Science University, followed by a transfusion medicine fellowship at Stanford University and a hematopathology fellowship at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus. 

The collegiality and expertise of the faculty at the University of Utah and ARUP was a major draw for Dr. Swenson; she noted that she admired the willingness of her colleagues to go above and beyond to improve patient care. In addition, the opportunities for research and for growth within the department appealed to her.

Outside of work, Dr. Swenson has been taking advantage of the ARUP gym, strength training and running as much as possible; she is looking forward to skiing on the legendary Utah snow this winter. She is also an avid reader and is 'aggressively leveling up' her knitting skills as well.
