Meet Dr. Anna Shestakova
The University of Utah Department of Pathology is pleased to welcome Anna Shestakova, MD PhD to the faculty. Dr. Shestakova, a former fellow in the department, holds the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) and specializes in hematopathology and molecular genetic pathology.
Dr. Shestakova is a native of Kyiv, Ukraine and received her MD at Bogomolets National Medical University and an MS in microbiology at Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. After coming to the US, she completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of California - Irvine, as well as fellowships in hematopathology at the University of Michigan and molecular genetic pathology at the University of Utah.
In addition, Dr. Shestakova completed her doctoral research and post-doctoral research in cell and molecular biology at the University of Utah.
Dr. Shestakova appreciates the excellent academic medicine and great outdoor lifestyle at the University and ARUP. She also notes that she enjoys coming to work every day in a friendly and collegial environment.
Outside of work, she enjoys snow and alpine skiing in the winter. When the weather is warmer, you can find Dr. Shestakova camping in the woods with her family.
