Welcome, Dr. Kyle Kurek
The Department of Pathology is pleased to announce that Kyle Kurek, MD, MMSc joined the Pediatric Pathology Division as a Professor and Associate Division Chief of Pediatric Pathology. Dr. Kurek specializes in pediatric solid tumors, vascular anomalies, bone, soft tissue pathology, and molecular genetics.
Dr. Kurek came to the University of Utah from the University of Calgary and Alberta Children's Hospital, where he was the Chief of Pediatric and Perinatal Pathology. Dr. Kurek's clinical and research expertise is in the molecular genetics and pathogenesis of vascular soft tissue, and skeletal anomalies and tumors, particularly in understanding the role of low-level somatic alterations. He is the past president of the Association of Clinical Scientists and serves on the Board of Directors for the Society of Pediatric Pathology.
Dr. Kurek sought a position at the University of Utah for its combination of clinical excellence, academic rigor, collaborative world-class research, and an unparalleled natural setting. In his free time, Dr. Kurek enjoys hiking, biking, camping, cross-country skiing, and walking his dogs.
