PsychSIGN-Utah

The U of U SOM psychiatry student interest group has scheduled talks and discussions about topics of interest in psychiatry as well as information regarding psychiatry as a residency and career choice. PsychSIGN is run by medical students, with faculty and resident support.

Psychiatry Clinical Shadowing Program

Allows interested local (in-state) undergraduate students, and University of Utah first and second year medical students to spend a half day "shadowing" a Department of Psychiatry faculty member as they provide clinical care. Depending on individual student interest, opportunities are available with adult or child/adolescent psychiatrists, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Please contact Lindsay Clark if you are interested in arranging a shadowing experience.

Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds

Medical students are always welcome to attend the Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds series which are generally held on the first and third Wednesdays at noon, beginning September through May. This guest lecture series is held in-person at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) in the Branch Auditorium.

The American Psychiatric Association (APA)

One of the oldest medical specialty organizations in the country, the APA provides free membership and journal subscriptions for medical students. Please visit their website for more information.
