One of the distinguished alumni of our department, Dr. Bill Rutter, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science Degree at this year’s University of Utah commencement.  You can also watch the video celebrating his honorary accomplishments and honorary degree at about the 37-minute mark of the commencement video on YouTube.  Bill is famous as “the father of biotechnology,” and he’s even more famous as the “uncle of Jared” (our own distinguished faculty member!).
