The Utah AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) is affiliated with the University of Utah Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. Our mission is to educate primary, mid-level mental health providers and students about HIV infection, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and psychosocial issues. This is done through innovative education and training, including lectures, preceptorships, webinars, and conferences.

The AETC program supports national HIV priorities by building clinician capacity and expertise along the HIV care continuum. The Utah AETC along with AETCs in Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, North and South Dakota, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming make up the regional Mountain West AIDS Education and Training Center. Established in April 1988, the AETCs are funded by a grant from the Health Resources & Services Administration.
