Dr. Amara Sarwal Selected for KDIGO Guideline Methodology Fellowship
Amara Sarwal, MD, MSCI, Assistant Professor in the Division of Nephrology & Hypertension, has been selected for the KDIGO Guideline Methodology Fellowship, a highly competitive and internationally recognized opportunity. Dr. Sarwal is one of only five fellows chosen from over 100 applicants worldwide for the inaugural 2025 cohort.
KDIGO—Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes—is the leading global organization dedicated to developing and implementing evidence-based clinical practice guidelines in kidney disease. Nephrologists and clinicians around the world rely on KDIGO guidelines to inform best practices in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of kidney disease.
Launched in 2025, the KDIGO Guideline Methodology Fellowship is designed to train early-career nephrologists in methods of evidence synthesis, grading of recommendations, and guideline development. The fellowship includes formal training, one-on-one mentoring by international leaders in clinical epidemiology and nephrology, and hands-on participation in KDIGO’s guideline development process.
“It is very exciting that KDIGO launched this Guideline Methodology Fellowship, with a curriculum not only designed to provide formal training, but also first-hand experience with leaders in the field. I am honoured to be a part of this inaugural class,” said Dr. Sarwal.
Dr. Sarwal’s selection for this prestigious program reflects her deep commitment to evidence-based care and her emerging leadership in the field of nephrology. Through this fellowship, she will play a direct role in shaping the future of global kidney care.
Congratulations to Dr. Sarwal on this remarkable achievement.
