Cho Research Team

The Cho Research Laboratory focuses on evaluating for the possible role of dysfunctional iron metabolism and its associated insulin resistance in the development of cardiac fibrosis in pre-dialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients.

Gregory Research Team

The Gregory Research Laboratory focuses on the progression, complications and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD), using clinical and translational laboratory approaches.

Hall Research Team

My research focus is on improving early diagnostic and prognostic approaches for evaluating donor organs as well as kidney recipients around the time of transplantation and during clinical follow up. I perform in-depth epidemiological studies in transplantation using national databases as well as clinical observational studies in transplant patients. 

Huang Lab

The Huang Research Laboratory studies the pathophysiological role of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RASS) in the development and progression of renal fibrosis and potential novel strategies for treatment.

Pezzolesi Research Team

The primary focus of the Pezzolesi Research Team’s research is to understand the etiology of diabetes, diabetic complications, and chronic kidney disease using high-throughput next-generation sequencing technology and integrated ‘omics’-based approaches. 

Ramkumar Lab

The Ramkumar Research Laboratory focuses on the role of intra-renal renin angiotensin system in regulation of blood pressure and sodium balance.

Raphael Research Team

The Raphael Research Laboratory conducts observational research studies related to acid-base regulation in CKD and interventional studies testing the effect of sodium bicarbonate treatment on renal injury markers among CKD patients with normal serum bicarbonate.

Rodan Lab

The Rodan lab uses the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, to study ion transport processes relevant to human physiology.

Shiu Lab

The Shiu Research Laboratory is devoted to laboratory and clinical research related to hemodialysis vascular access and mechanobiology of vascular cells in health and in disease.

Wang Lab

The primary interest of the Wang lab is to understand the role of adipokines and other adipose tissue-derived products in regulating renal function, particularly blood pressure and fluid metabolism.

Yang Lab

The Yang Lab long-term research interests are the roles of prostaglandins and other lipid-derived products in regulation of fluid metabolism and blood pressure.
