Adult Neurology Residency

A Message from Our Residency Program Director

The University of Utah is a robust academic center situated in the heart of the Mountain West and servicing patients from a wide catchment area. Our hospital serves as the Mountain West's only tertiary neurological and neurosurgical care center. We attract patients from as far north as Montana, as far south as New Mexico and Arizona, as far east as Colorado, and as far west as Oregon. This geographic extent encompasses 10% of the US land mass and allows our residents to be exposed to a wide breadth of pathology, encompassing both diagnostic challenges and critically ill patients in need of a higher level of care.

Our department has representation across all major subspecialties of neurology and has grown immensely during the tenure of our current chair, Dr. Stefan Pulst. Under Dr. Pulst's leadership, we have added faculty members to all of our subspecialty divisions, created the Translational Neuroscience Division, added an autonomic lab, increased the size of our neurocritical care unit, expanded our TeleStroke program, and created a TeleNeurology program.

Our residency is of medium size with eight resident positions per year, and we are committed to the education of residents on a personal level.
The Adult Neurology Residency at the University of Utah has so much to offer! We welcome you to look through our website for further information.
