Welcome to the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program

Dear Prospective Applicants,

Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship program here at the University of Utah and Primary Children's Hospital.

Our program is committed to excellence in training the next generation of pediatric endocrinologists to practice innovative, evidence-based medicine. Our fellowship program is an ACGME accredited 3-year training program that has an interest to train individuals for careers in academic and clinical medicine. Our academic environment is rich and diverse in the clinical arena.

Our division’s team of 9 endocrinologists are committed to clinical care, research and education. We pride ourselves on having a comprehensive curriculum in order to produce high-quality endocrinologists. Our curriculum is a mixture of weekly case conferences, journal clubs, didactic lectures, invited speaker lectures, and fellows’ board review series.  The fellows' school, adult endocrinology conferences, joint urology and gynecology conferences and pediatrics grand rounds also comprise the curriculum.

Our fellows have continuity clinics in diabetes and general endocrinology.  They also participate in our subspecialty clinics for Metabolic Bone Disease, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Differences of Sexual Development, Gender Management and Support (GeMS), Cystic Fibrosis-related Diabetes, and High-risk Diabetes.  Fellows participate in inter-disciplinary education through rotation with reproductive endocrinology, gynecology, lipid clinic, adult endocrinology, and the national reference laboratory ARUP.

The first year of the program is devoted primarily to clinical training, with both inpatient and outpatient activities. The second and third years of the program are devoted mostly to clinical and/or laboratory research. Our fellows have access to research opportunities within and/or outside the division based on their interests.

Our fellowship program provides a friendly and supportive environment to help facilitate our fellows’ pursuit of their passions in pediatric endocrinology. We welcome you to apply to our program here and explore what it has to offer.

Warm Regards,

Vandana (Vana) Raman, MBBS, MD – Program Director
