Deborah Yurgelun-Todd, PhD Announced as New Director of Neuroscience Initiative

Dr. Deborah Yurgelun-Todd has agreed to serve as the next Director of the Neuroscience Initiative (NSI). Dr. Yurgelun-Todd has been very involved with the initiative since its inception. She served as co-chair of the strategic planning effort, and has served on the Scientific Advisory Board (now Scientific Steering Committee) since the NSI was established. She has dedicated considerable effort to advancing the goals of the NSI and strengthening our neuroscience community. She is the ideal person to lead the NSI through the next phase of the initiative.

Dr. Deborah Yurgelun-Todd is a USTAR Professor of Psychiatry and Co-Director of the Diagnostic Neuroimaging Lab at The University of Utah. She serves as Associate Director of the Rocky Mountain Mental Illness Research and Clinical Center (MIRECC) for the Salt Lake City VA Health Care System. She completed her doctorate in Psychology from Harvard University and subsequently trained at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She is an accomplished neuroscientist whose work is focused on identifying the neuropsychological and neurobiological bases of major psychiatric disorders including substance abuse and mood disorders.
