The Department of Psychiatry is pleased to announce the addition of a new faculty member, Elizabeth Gargaro, MD. In addition to her faculty role, she will be working with adolescent patients at UNI’s Girls Transition Center in Millcreek. She also provides pediatric care and mental health integration services at the University of Utah Health's South Main Clinic.
Elizabeth Gargaro, MD, Instructor (Clinical), earned her medical degree at University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She completed her Triple Board Residency (Pediatrics/Psychiatry/Child & Adolescent Psychiatry) at the University of Utah School of Medicine. In her final year, she served as Chief Resident and coordinated the Triple Board/Post-Pediatric Portal Program Summit, a national conference for Triple Board and PPPP trainees and alumni.
Dr. Gargaro was drawn to Triple Board by its emphasis on the intersection between physical and mental health. During training, she sought opportunities to hone her skills providing mental health care in a primary care setting, consulting with primary care providers, and navigating complex systems/diagnoses.
Her clinical interests include collaborative care, medical education, systems-based practice, and eating disorders. Dr. Gargaro is delighted to join the department and the clinical faculty at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute where she will continue to work at the interface between physical and mental health care.
