Ordering Recommendation

• This is a broad epithelial autoantibody panel for initial diagnostic assessment in disorders that present with blistering, erosions, pruritus, and/or urticaria, which affect skin and mucous membranes, from suspected basement membrane zone antibody-associated disease including bullous pemphigoid, pemphigoid variants, epidermolysis bullosa acquisita, linear IgA bullous dermatosis, and linear IgA disease variants.

• Order concurrently with perilesional skin biopsy for direct immunofluorescence for initial diagnosis.

• Use for disease monitoring with semiquantitative antibody assessments and tracking.

• To screen for other immunobullous diseases in addition to basement membrane zone antibody-associated diseases, order concurrently with the Pemphigus Panel, IgA cell surface antibodies indirect immunofluorescence individual test, Dermatitis Herpetiformis IgA Panel, as clinically indicated.

Completed Immunodermatology Laboratory requisition form and copies of both sides of insurance cards or completed billing information.
