IgG Desmoglein 1 and IgG desmoglein 3 Antibody Levels

Ordering Recommendation

  • For disease activity monitoring in epidermolysis bullosa acquisita. Serum levels of IgG collagen VII antibodies may correlate with disease activity in epidermolysis bullosa acquisita; best for monitoring patients with known increased levels
  • Patients with epidermolysis bullosa acquisita may show reactivity to multiple basement membrane zone components in addition to or other than the collagen VII epitopes expressed in this ELISA, and patients with pemphigoid may have a similar clinical presentation with positive IgG basement membrane zone antibodies; therefore, consider more broad-based panel autoantibody assessment initially and for persisting unexplained or worsening disease activity because antibody profiles and levels may evolve over time: Pemphigoid Panel and IgG Collagen VII Antibody Level or Basement Membrane Zone Antibody Panel
