MAINTAIN PRIME

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) within the National Institute of Health have awarded a grant (1R18DK123372-01A1) to the University of Utah to promote real-world implementation of an evidence-based weight management program integrated with the electronic health record. This project will run from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2025 and principle investigators include Drs. Molly Conroy and Kensaku Kawamoto.

This project leverages an innovative, EHR-facilitated weight loss maintenance intervention (MAINTAIN) that was previously validated by our research team in a clinical research environment. In this project, the MAINTAIN intervention will be implemented using existing clinical resources and evaluated for its real-world impact. MAINTAIN PRIME will be conducted in 14 primary care practices affiliated with the University of Utah and will capitalize on further advances in health IT and team-based care models to deliver the intervention with minimal support from research staff.
