Dr. Alayne Markland Recognized as 2025 AGS Fellow

Alayne Markland, DO, MSc, was recently named a Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS), joining 18 distinguished professionals from across the country in receiving this honor. She was formally recognized during the 2025 AGS Annual Scientific Meeting, held in May in Chicago, Illinois.

The AGS Fellow status (AGSF) is awarded to members who have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to geriatrics and have made significant contributions to improving care for older adults through research, education, clinical practice, advocacy, and service to the Society. Dr. Markland’s recognition reflects her deep expertise, national leadership, and unwavering dedication to the field of aging.

Alayne D. Markland, DO, MSc, is a tenured Professor and holds the D. Kevin Barnes, MD and Dottie Barnes Presidential Endowed Chair in the Division of Geriatrics within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah. She also serves as Executive Director of the University of Utah Center on Aging. At the Salt Lake City VA Health Care System, she serves as an investigator in the Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC).

Dr. Markland is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in lower urinary tract disorders, women’s health, and aging. Her work spans population-based research, multicenter clinical trials, and implementation studies aimed at expanding access to incontinence care through innovative technologies.
