The Mentor Connection website is a School of Medicine initiative designed to connect medical students to faculty mentors of many different specialties in a single location.

Mentorship is cited as one of the top reasons that medical students pursue a career in medicine. The careers of many of the School of Medicine’s faculty were influenced by great mentors, solidifying their commitment to mentoring the next generation of clinicians. As in all partnerships, the success of the relationship is based on the equal contributions of both partners—the mentor and the mentee. We hope Mentor Connection will serve as a resource for both medical students and physicians interested in participating in the rewarding experience of mentorship.

Through this program, medical student mentees can connect with mentors from various specialties within the School of Medicine. As mentees, they can explore different specialties and practice environments, gain exposure to multiple training paradigms, engage in research projects, observe the skills and commitment required of clinicians, and establish a relationship that can serve as a source of future career guidance and sponsorship.

Instructions for Medical Students:

Log in to the site with your University ID and password to fill out your profile and begin searching for mentors! When you have found a potential mentor, click on the "Request Mentorship" button to send your request with an optional personal message. If the faculty member accepts your request, you can set up your first mentor meeting.
