
Pediatric Cardiology Reimbursement Policy
Medical Licensing
The GME Office pays for all initial state licenses, provided the completed application material is in the GME Office by July 31st. The GME Office pays for state license renewal fees on a pro-rated basis depending on remaining length of fellowship training. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology will pay for your Utah state license your third year of fellowship.
Reimbursement
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology will reimburse fellows for renewal of federal DEA licenses, admission fees for Subspecialty In-Service Examinations, abstract submission fees and PALS & ACLS provider class fee. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology will provide travel, meeting fees, and room and board per diem for all meetings when a fellow has an abstract accepted for presentation at a scientific meeting.
Fellow Professional Development Fund
In addition, each fellow will be allowed $3,000 for the three-year fellowship period for individual professional development. (See table below for further clarification as to reimbursable items). These funds must be used by the completion of the program or the remainder will be absorbed by the Division of Pediatric Cardiology.

ADDENDUM: Fellows may request exceptions to the guideline on using professional development funds for computer software or other electronic media. Requests will be considered on a case by case basis. The fellow will prepare a document demonstrating that the request fulfills the following criteria:
- The proposed product will enhance the fellow's education or ability to fulfill educational requirements (i.e. research or QI/QA projects)
- The proposed product is not available for immediate use elsewhere in the University or within the division
- The proposed product is not more than half of the annual professional development fund allotment
Evaluation and recommendation of the appropriateness of the request will be made by the Fellowship Director and the Research Director. Review of the recommendation and final approval will be made by the Division Chief.
