In addition to working alongside and gaining experience from industry professionals in the Software Development System Design core (SD2C) you’ll receive supplemental workshops and seminars which will cover various best practices as they relate to your role in software development. You’ll enjoy special guest lectures and a variety of resources which will enhance your education and help make you a more well-rounded game developer. You will also receive additional instruction, whether it’s specific to a project to which you are assigned or related to developing games for health, medical software and the training and certifications that are required when utilizing electronic health records and protected patient data.
FELLOWSHIP & BENEFITS
The GApp Lab Fellowship is a 2-year program which will provide professionally oriented masters students with funding provided through the University of Utah’s Graduate School’s Tuition Benefit Program (TBP). The TBP offers eligible students a full tuition waiver, subsidized health insurance, and a yearly stipend based on employment as a Graduate Fellow (GF).
Fellowships are awarded to candidates engaged in multidisciplinary projects and industry experience that combine disciplines such as computer science, applied mathematics, programming & engineering, 3D & 2D art and animation, and product and project management.
This program is intended to support masters students at the University of Utah, and applicants are not allowed to receive any other fellowships or financial support for their time and effort during the funded fellowship period.
This program is an interdisciplinary educational and training program funded by the SVPHS and Digital Health. It is a unique venture among a variety of disciplines and academic departments that will prepare its students not only for academic readiness but also for the real-world workforce.

Eligible Applicants must be admitted as a masters student either of the following schools: The Division of Games, School of Computing, Bioinformatics, Population Health Sciences. Students from other departments will be considered on a case by case basis.
