EXPLORE NEUROSURGERY

NEUROLOGICAL SURGERY STUDENT INTEREST GROUP

The Neurological Surgery Student Interest Group is a faculty-mentored, student-run organization sponsored by the Department of Neurosurgery and affiliated with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). The goals of this organization are to promote and support opportunities where all University of Utah undergraduate students will gain an understanding of the field of neurological surgery. Our faculty work with students to help them explore their interest in neurological surgery by:

  1. Providing clinical exposure for medical students in neurological surgery though faculty shadowing, daily rounds, and formal clinical rotations
  2. Guiding them through the neurological surgery residency application process
  3. Providing mentorship on research projects within the department to investigate neurological disorders
  4. Developing courses, conferences, and activities to promote an understanding of the professional life of our speciality.
