Welcome to our two incoming fellows: Nicolas Contreras-Peraza, MD and Praveen Sridhar, MD

Nicolas Contreras-Peraza MD

nico contrerasNico was born in Aurora, Oregon and then raised in Bogota, Columbia in the 1990s, at a time of turmoil in that country. He came back to Portland as a high schooler, and started a track record of excellence - Salutatorian of his high school; hobbies such as drawing, architecture and playing the violin; Presidential merit-based scholarship and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Award at Gonzaga, and then accolades at the Mayo Medical School including the Abbot, Peterson, Campbell and Naylor Awards. Before residency, his service activities included working as a translator for migrant workers at free clinics, and assisting in surgical procedures at underserved hospitals in South America. During his general surgery residency, he received the “silver retractor award” as the outstanding surgical intern at the Mayo Clinic. He has been productive with both manuscripts and presentations during his general surgical training at the Mayo Clinic.

Praveen Sridhar MD

praveen sridharA native of Staten Island, NY, Praveen has stayed at Boston University for quite a stretch of time: Bachelors of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2010, and a Medical Degree in 2014. He then continued his General Surgery Training at Boston University – Boston Medical Center. His track record includes awards such as the Sherchuck Award for Basic Sciences and Wein Student Research Award in Medical School. He took time out during surgical residency to complete a research fellowship.

Praveen’s wife is finishing her Urology Residency at Boston University this year, and will stay on in Boston to complete a 1-year Male Infertility Fellowship. They both would love to continue in Academic Surgery after completion of their training.
