Welcome New Fellow Dr. Jen Vigneswaran
Jen was born in London and moved to the United States at a young age to grow up in the Chicago suburbs. She received her BS from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and subsequently an MPH from Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and an MD from Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. She did her general surgery training at the University of Chicago and during that time she completed a Fellowship at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics and a research fellowship in clinical and basic science. During her research time, she was awarded a number of national grants to study the effects of microbiome on cancer recurrence. Her other interests include surgical education, wellness and health equity. She is creator and co-host of “Deep Cuts” the Podcast that discusses diversity, equity and inclusion issues that affect the South Side of Chicago community. She hopes to finish training and specialize in benign and malignancy disease of the esophagus and lungs. Outside of the hospital she enjoys spending time with her husband Taylor and their two sons Cayden and Cody.
