Celebrating the Perfusion Lab & Honoring Don Kimble

Fatma Tuncer MD, is a fellowship-trained plastic surgeon within the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University
of Utah.

Dr. Tuncer received her medical degree in Turkey from Hacettepe University where she graduated magna cum
laude. She completed her plastic surgery residency in Istanbul, Turkey and subsequently was awarded a travel
grant from the European Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Through this award, Dr.
Tuncer did a short term fellowship in Gent, Belgium in breast and microsurgery. She then completed additional
fellowships in craniofacial surgery, pediatric plastic surgery and microsurgery at the University of Utah and
Cleveland Clinic. During the last year, she focused on breast reconstruction, microsurgical treatment and the
prevention of lymphedema following oncologic procedures.

Dr. Tuncer’s clinical interests include:

  • Breast Reconstruction

  • Lower Extremity Reconstruction
  • Facial Reanimation

Dr. Tuncer’s research interests include:

  • Microsurgical treatment of lymphedema
  • Preoperative optimization of breast reconstruction patients

PRACTICE LOCATIONS: Dr. Tuncer practices at Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah Hospital, Sugarhouse Health Center and Primary Children’s Hopsital.
