Thank you for your interest in the Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Utah.
Our two-year ACGME-accredited clinical fellowship is dedicated to training outstanding rheumatologists who are clinically excellent, compassionate, and prepared for successful careers in academic medicine, community practice, and beyond. Our mission is to develop well-rounded physicians through comprehensive clinical training, mentorship, research opportunities, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Clinical Training
Fellows gain experience caring for a diverse patient population with a broad spectrum of rheumatic diseases in both outpatient and inpatient settings. As a regional referral center, we serve patients from across the Mountain West, including Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, and Colorado. This unique geographic reach provides exposure to a wide variety of complex and uncommon rheumatologic conditions.
Clinical training includes comprehensive rheumatology care as well as specialized experiences in rheumatoid arthritis, gout, spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, vasculitis, and systemic sclerosis. Fellows also receive training in musculoskeletal ultrasound, pediatric rheumatology, and telemedicine, preparing them for modern rheumatology practice.
Research, Mentorship & Career Development
The University of Utah Division of Rheumatology is home to a diverse and accomplished faculty of clinicians, physician-scientists, and medical educators who are deeply committed to fellow education and mentorship. Fellows have opportunities to participate in clinical research and scholarly projects in areas such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic sclerosis, spondyloarthritis, and medical education.
Our graduates have established successful careers in both academic and private practice settings throughout Utah and across the United States. We are proud of our supportive learning environment, collaborative culture, and strong record of preparing fellows for meaningful and rewarding careers in rheumatology.
Applications
We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
