Rheumatology

Message from the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in the Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Utah.

We offer a two-year clinical program. Our mission is to train future rheumatologists who will be well-rounded, clinically excellent, compassionate and able to perform well in both academic and private practices. This is accomplished with exposure to diverse patient populations with a wide variety of rheumatologic disorders in the outpatient and inpatient setting. Our fellows provide care to patients from a large geographic area, including Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada and Colorado. The trainees see patients in general rheumatology, as well as, specialty clinics including rheumatoid arthritis, gout, spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, vasculitis and systemic sclerosis. Our training program also provides experience in musculoskeletal ultrasound, pediatric rheumatology and telemedicine.

The Rheumatology Division at the University of Utah has a large and diverse faculty including those focused as clinicians, physician scientists and medical educators. Our fellows participate in research of rheumatoid arthritis, systemic sclerosis, spondyloarthritis, and medical education.

Our graduates have been successfully practicing in both academic and private practice settings in Utah and in other parts of the country.  We accept applications through ERAS and participate in the National Resident Matching Program.

I hope you will strongly consider applying to our training program. Please contact Dora Miller, fellowship program manager, with any questions at: 801-585-1686 or via e-mail at rheumatology@hsc.utah.edu.
