Resident alumni Vijay Ravindra receives the 2020 Bobby Jones CSF Chiari research award

Former resident Vijay Ravindra received the Bobby Jones CSF Chiari research award at the AANS/CNS Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery annual meeting for a paper he published with Drs. Douglas Brockmeyer and Robert Bollo and other department members. Their paper described the condylar–C2 sagittal vertical alignment (C-C2SVA) measurement, which they developed as a tool for assessing Chiari I malformation. University of Utah Health's Center for Medical Innovation Bench To Bedside Competition 2020 has announced that the Vizport device took Best in Engineering. 2020 resident graduate Michael Karsy, resident Brandon Sherrod, and medical students---Brandon Pope at the U and Brian Farnsworth at Ohio State---developed the device under the mentorship of Dr. Richard Schmidt from Neurosurgery and engineer Govind Subramanian.
