Community Mental Health Concentration

Description

The Community Mental Health Concentration gives residents the opportunity to focus on serving patients who are unfunded, underfunded, underserved, and/or have severe and persistent mental illness. 

Objectives

  • Provide diverse clinical experiences within the community and with individuals who have severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Provide diverse educational experiences through lectures and networking with individuals who currently work in the public sector.
  • Provide resources and guidance to assist residents in the creation of an academic project and talk related to community mental health.
  • Prepare residents for work in the public sector after graduation.

Certificate Requirements

  • Completion of additional community mental health rotations beyond the general residency program requirements.
  • Completion of an academic project focused on Community Mental Health.
  • Completion of a talk on Community Mental Health.
  • Participation in concentration quarterly meetings and general further development of the concentration.
