Women's Mental Health Concentration

Description

The Women's Mental Health Concentration allows residents to enhance their knowledge and experience in assessing and treating mental health conditions for women across their lifespans.

Objectives

  • To provide education and additional resources for the management of mental health conditions as they relate to menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause.
  • To improve a resident's understanding of the ways in which mental health conditions can intersect with hormonal changes.
  • To provide priority access to clinical experiences focused on women's mental health.
  • To offer camaraderie among residents with similar clinical interest.

Certificate Requirements

  • Completion of a six-month clinical rotation (to be facilitated by the program for all Concentration members in good standing).
  • Journal Club attendance, totaling at least 10 meetings during residency (avg 3/yr). 
  • Complete the "Important WMH Articles" reading list (approximately 20 articles, will be reviewed in Journal Clubs). 
  • One scholarly project (options include research, poster presentation, published case report, conference presentation, resident lecture).
