Anesthesiology Leadership During Mass Casualty Incident Training

Community care and wellbeing are top of mind at the University of Utah South Jordan Health Center.  Unfortunately, a mass casualty event in the community is impactful with wide ranging effects. Derek Sakata MD, Professor (clinical) and Vice Chair in the Department of Anesthesiology and Executive Medical Director for the University of Utah’s Southern Service Delivery Area worked directly with members of the University of Utah Emergency Management team, the South Jordan Health Center Emergency Department and South Jordan’s Public Safety to practice their skills on Thursday, October 12 in their second simulation of a mass casualty incident.  The teams did an excellent job in honing their skill for their next practice run in spring of 2024.
