Dr. Paul Clayton Appointed as Emeritus Professor

Paul Clayton has been appointed as Emeritus Professor effective July 1, 2011. Biomedical Informatics celebrated and honored Paul’s leadership, service and affiliation with the department over the many years during a special Faculty Meeting held on May 12, 2011. Drs. Homer Warner, Stan Huff, and Scott Narus, along with Susan Rea, a recent graduate of the Biomedical Informatics program, gave a delightful tribute to Paul highlighting his career as an Informaticist. Paul received his Ph.D. in Biophysics and Bioengineering from the University of Utah and a Ph.D. in Physics from University of Arizona. He was appointed as Associate Professor in Medical Informatics at the University of Utah and then moved to Columbia University where he was a Professor and then later promoted to Chair. Paul is a Professor Emeritus of Medical Informatics at Columbia University and has also served as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Intermountain Health Care in the past. He has served on numerous national editorial and review boards. His valuable contributions to informatics span several decades.

While Paul has volunteered to continue to play a role as advisor to the department on writing grants, we wish him an enjoyable retirement.
